Care & Maintenance

A quick guide for Homeowners

We design and manufacture windows, facades and architectural aluminum systems for the most iconic and innovative commercial and residential projects throughout the United States.

Our products are carefully manufactured and quality tested, ensuring full functionality and the best end-user experience. Each piece is created with sophistication and style in collaboration with architects and designers, and built to the highest specifications to meet our exceptional standards.

To ensure top-level functionality, you should practice routine care and maintenance. Your windows and doors will last longer, have lower repair costs and maintain the validity of your warranty. This quick guide covers best practices, steps to follow and things to avoid.

Best Practices

How to clean your products

All products require periodic cleaning to avoid and protect the glass from potential contaminants. At a minimum, clean all the materials listed in this guide once every 4 months. If you reside near the coast, you should clean all of these items at least once every month. Depending on your environment, it may be essential to clean more frequently.

The first step for cleaning the glass is rinsing the glass with clear water. This procedure removes any contaminant on the surface of the glass avoiding scratches during the cleaning process. The glass should be cleaned with a soft, clean cloth and a non-abrasive, non-alkaline cleaning solution. The glass should be rinsed immediately with clean water and excess water should be removed with a squeegee. For routine cleaning, use a conventional window washing solution or mild soap and water. Spray evenly throughout the whole surface of the glass the cleaning solution with a soft cloth or pad and rinse.

Afterwards you should wipe dry the glass with a clean cloth, pad or squeegee. Extra care should be taken to make sure the glass does not come in contact with the metal. Due to the fact razor blades, knives, glazing parts, and other tools may scratch the glass, extreme care should be taken with their use.
Care Maintenance

ALUMINIUM

  1. Use pressured water to clean. For thorough cleaning use sponges or soft bristle brushes.
  2. The cleaning process should be done with uniform pressure and vertical or horizontal movements.
  3. Avoid the use of strong alkaline or acid cleaners. Do not use cleaning solutions containing trisodium phosphate, phosphoric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, perchloric acid, fluorides or similar components.
  4. In order to solve any concerns, contact ESWINDOWS.
  5. Test cleaning solutions in a small spot to prevent staining.
  6. Maintain an appropriate ambient temperature (between 60 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit) while cleaning; cleaning at high temperatures might cause stains and damages.
  7. Avoid applying cleaning solutions at freezing point temperatures since condensation might take place.

GLASS

  1. The glass must be cleaned periodically to prevent its contamination
  2. During the construction handle the glass carefully to prevent contamination and stains.
  3. Clean glass with water while and after the construction stage to prevent scratches, stains and impurities.
  4. Use high pressured water to clean the railing. For a thorough cleaning use sponges or soft bristle brushes.
  5. It is recommended to use soft soap and water for the cleaning routine. Clean the glass surface with a rag or sponge and the cleaning solution, then wipe the glass with a rag, sponge or window cleaner.
  6. Reflective glass panels must be clean carefully to prevent any damage. Reflective glass is more vulnerable to damage.
  7. Reflective glass panels should be cleaned every four months.

SCREENS

  1. Carefully remove your screen and set it down on a spotless, level surface.
  2. Gently brush away grime, salt, and other residues using a light soap solution and water. As mentioned above, avoid utilizing items that could rip or cause punctures.
  3. Gently replace your screen after it has dried completely.

FRAMES

  1. To start, rinse your frames in clean water to get rid of any dirt or dust that could create scratches later on when you’re cleaning them. Avoid using a power washer or garden hose, as was already mentioned.
  2. Use a solution of mild soap and water to wash the interior and exterior of your window or door frames. Test your cleaning solution on a tiny patch of the surface before using it on the entire surface to ensure a secure application.
  3. Once a year, give your frames a light coat of car wax. Be sure to clean the frames before applying the wax. If you don’t clean frames before wax is applied the wax could actually accelerate corrosion by sealing salt deposits to the frame.

HARDWARE

  1. Your sliding glass door(s)’ wheels don’t require lubrication because they have sealed ball bearing housings.
  2. For hinges, thumbturns, and other moving parts, a light oil lubricant, such as mineral oil, or a light plant-based oil, such as hemp, olive, or grapeseed, may be used to maintain easy operation.
  3. Use a wet cloth or a solution of mild soap and water to inspect and clean your weatherstrip. Thoroughly rinse and dry the weatherstrip. To ensure a perfect seal, replace your weatherstrip as soon as it becomes damaged.
  4. To maintain appropriate drainage, regularly check and clean your weep systems.
  5. To remove dust and dirt, use a damp cloth to wipe down your tracks and sills or a vacuum.
